Gorgeous actress Vidya Balan was born on 1st January 1978 in Palakkad, Kerala. She did her education from Mumbai. She knows Tamil Malayalam, Bengali English and Hindi languages. She started her career in Television and some Bengali movies but came into notice in Hindi movie Parineeta in 2005. She received Filmfare Best Debut Female award and nominated for Best Actress award for Parineeta. Her father P. R. Balan is V.P. of ETC TV channel and mother is Saraswathy Balan. Prior to acting in movies she appeared in many TV ads, music videos and TV serials.
Vidya Balan got chance to prove her acting talent in variety of roles in Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Salaam-e-Ishq and The Dirty Picture . In Lage Raho Munna Bhai opposite to Sanjay Dutt, she played the role of a Radio-Jockey. she been with few radio jockeys to understand their working style so that she could play the role of Radio Jockey in Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
Similarly she proved her talent in Bhool Bhulaiyaa with co stars Akshay Kumar,Shiney Ahuja and Ameesha Patel, she played role of lady suffering from psychological problem. Vidya Balan appeared in Kismat Konnection with Shahid Kapoor but this movie was not successful. Then in she played role of abandoned wife in Ishqiya with Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah.

Her acting was appricited by critics for this movie and people realised that this actress will go much far in her acting career. No One Killed Jessica, movie based on Jessica Lal murder case, was challenging project for her to show her talent. In this moive she played role of Jessica’s sister Sabrina Lal who uses spectacles and fight for justice against murderers. Finally The Dirty Picture in 2011 was a great movie for her which gave her chance to get National award for Best Actress and Filmfame Best Actress award.
This movie based on life of actress Silk Smitha where Vidya Balan played her boldness and hot look. She gained her weight to fit into character of Silk Smitha in this movie. This movies was the great successful movie of the year and won many Filmfare awards. Her performance was very much appreciated by many experts.
