Another emerging superstar of Indian film is Deepika Padukone. The child of Prakash Padukone, the veteran Badminton player of India, she has managed to make her mark in the Indian films quite significantly. Her career started with modeling, as a result of which the music director Himesh Reshammiya saw her and signed her for his music album, Tera Suroor.

2. Love Aaj Kal (2009)- Directed by Imtiaz Ali & Produced by Saif Ali Khan. Deepika plays role of Meera and Saif Ali Khan in role of Jai. The movie is about the love these days between youngsters and the love people use to have 20-30 years ago. She was nominated for Filmfare Best Actress Award. The movie was successful at the box office.
3. Housefull (2010)- A comedy movie directed by Sajid Khan, Deepika plays role of Telgu girl Soundarya Bhagyalakshmi Venkateshwari Baassappa Rao (Sandy) with Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta and Jiah Khan. Deepika loves Aasush (Akshay Kumar). The story of this movie is similar to Kamal Haasan’s mvoie Kaathala Kaathala.
4. Aarakshan (2011)- Directed & Produced by Prakash Jha, the movie is highlights caste based reservations in government services, schools and colleges. Deepika plays the role of Poorbi Anand, daughter of Dr. Prabhakar Anand (Amitabh Bachchan). Deepak Kumar (Saif Ali Khan), from lower caste, is a talented student of Dr. Prabhakar. Poobi and Deepak love each other and fight against the wrong policies for reservation system. The movie was moderately successful but Deepika’s Performance appreciated by critics.
5. Desi Boyz (2011)- A comedy movie directed by Rohit Dhawan, Deepika with co-stars Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika and Chitrangda Singh. Deepika plays role of Radhika Awasthi who likes Nick Mathur (John Abraham).
The movie was not successful at the box office.
